Principal Software Programmer

Brass Lion Entertainment is looking for a Principal Software Programmer to work with our talented team, with employees based in NYC & Montréal (and some fully remote), working on our new action-RPG title. As our Principal Software Programmer, you will be responsible for the architecture of our technology stack. You will make decisions about the project technology and guide other programmers from all specialties to deliver high quality technology that will empower the team to create the best game possible.

Responsibilities

  • Make strategic decisions about technology
  • Implement solution for the game’s most critical technology challenges (ex: implement a custom cache system to improve CPU usage)
  • Monitor technology status for all domains and fix gaps
  • Collaborate with programmers to establish best practices
  • Communicate with external partners about our technology challenges and choices

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of video game programming experience
  • Strong C++ skills
  • Ability to debug difficult low-level issues (ex: multithread locks)
  • Strong understanding of video game hardware architecture
  • Broad knowledge of video game engineering with more than one domain of expertise
  • Self-driven with an ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Authorized to work either in the US or Canada

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Shipped at least one game as a Lead or Senior Programmer
